When you first move into your new house, it can be quit the transition to make it feel like a home. Sometimes a new property can lack the warmth that is created after years of decorating and collecting; whether it’s the emptiness of the new house, different surroundings and floor plan, or the smell of the previous owner’s. Turning your new place into a home might not all happen over night, however, by taking the time to implement the tips below….you will be well on your way to creating your cozy nest!
1. Buy Flowers. (Preferably fresh flowers) Flowers can help brighten a room and your spirits. Take the time to hand pick some of your favorite flowers to scatter around your new home on the inside and out for instant color and life.
2. Bake cookies or bread. Nothing creates an instant feeling of warmth like walking into a home filled with the scent of fresh baked cookies or bread. And with all of the unpacking you will be doing, you will surely thank me later!
3. Get new throw pillows and throws. Throw pillows and throws can be quick and easy face lifts for chairs and sofas brought over from your previous place. This can also be a good time to play with new color combinations.
4. Change the hardware. New cabinet hardware in bathrooms and kitchens can be an inexpensive way to instantly update and add your personality to these rooms.
5. Hang art. No need to over think the placement of your artwork and pictures. Take a leap and get to hanging. Nail holes are easy enough to patch and your artwork will make it feel more like your home.
